Singapore is divided into five regions, each with its unique characteristics, attractions, and cultures:
- Central Region: The most densely populated region and the heart of Singapore's commercial and financial center, contributing 67.8% to the country's GDP. It has a population of 1.25 million and covers 133.7 km² of land area.
- North Region: Known for its lush greenery and wildlife attractions, the North Region covers 134.4 km² of land area with a population of 590,000. It contributes 5.2% to the country's GDP.
- South Region: A bustling hub of commerce and entertainment, the South Region covers 48.6 km² of land area with a population of 1.10 million. It contributes 26.8% to the country's GDP.
- East Region: A laid-back residential area with a rich food culture and beautiful beaches, the East Region covers 93.0 km² of land area with a population of 850,000. It contributes 7.1% to the country's GDP.
- West Region: A blend of urban development and nature reserves, the West Region covers 201.3 km² of land area with a population of 960,000. It contributes 8.6% to the country's GDP. Popular attractions include the Jurong Bird Park and the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.
